To be honest, I’m usually not up to date with trends, but thanks to social media I’m slowly picking up on them. So when Farfetch asked a few bloggers to “Style The Trend” and create a look inspired by one of the major trends for spring summer 2016, I thought, why not take up the challenge? One of those spring summer trends is totally giving me style envy and that’s the Cold Shoulder Trend!
The Cold Shoulder Trend
Just as the name suggests, the cold shoulder trend is all about baring your shoulders. Be it with off shoulder dresses or tops with shoulder cut outs. What I like about it is that it’s subtly sexy, but playful at the same time. I personally don’t like showing too much skin, but the cold shoulder trend is one of the few 80’s styles I’d actually wear. I think it’s something for everyone, as there are so many different versions of it. It can be elegant or casual, depending on the material and the cut or how you style it.
So I’ve picked some pieces from Farfetch to style up a look I’d wear: Starting off with the white off shoulder shirt by SEA, I’ve combined it with a pair of casual denim jeans and some slip on trainers to create a casual day time look. And since the focus will be very much on your neck area, I thought some dangly earrings would be a great eye catcher. To toughen it up a little and add something special to the look, I thought the Stephen Webster spiked cuff would be a great addition. And of course, no outfit is complete without a bag: The bucket bag by Building Block would fit all your necessities and I simply loved its wooden detail. The lip tint is a small addition, because I base my make up on the outfit I’m wearing, so a subtle lip colour would be the perfect completion for this look in my opinion, what do you think?
Obviously I need to show you some of the outfits that I’ve been loving on my instagram feed as well. Here’s a selection of my favourite styles, until I get my hands on a cold shoulder piece as well!
